Do you have to be more educated, as a teacher, to be sure you get everything you should in a unit study?
Answer:
No. The scary thing about unit study is that it is so open, giving you the freedom to emphasize what is important to you. With freedom comes responsibility. However, students who participate in unit study seldom have to worry about not getting something. When given the opportunity to investigate information, they come up with far more than initially required. Usually the study itself will have objectives to be accomplished. If you’re still worried, there are many sources that list “scope and sequence” which provides a list of skills and bodies of knowledge that your child should accomplish. You don’t have to rely on what you know.
