High School Online Schools and Correspondence Schools List

The following list includes online schools, correspondence schools, and other suppliers of stand alone curriculum. It does not include information about the broad array of high school level curriculum available to homeschoolers. For more information about specific texts and resources, the Eclectic Homeschool Online recommends you purchase a high school curriculum manual such as Christian Home Educators' Curriculum Manual : Junior/Senior High by Cathy Duffy. The Eclectic Homeschool Online's Review Department has reviews of many excellent resources.

Advice from the US Department of Education:
"Accreditation does not provide automatic acceptance by an institution of credit earned at another institution, nor does it give assurance of acceptance of graduates by employers. Acceptance of students or graduates is always the prerogative of the receiving institution or employer. For these reasons, besides ascertaining the accredited status of a school or program, students should take additional measures to determine, prior to enrollment, whether or not their educational goals will be met through attendance at a particular institution. These measures should include inquiries to institutions to which transfer might be desired or to prospective employers and, if possible, personal inspection of the institution at which enrollment is contemplated." That statement was made concerning university and college accreditation, but it applies equally to accreditation of high school programs. There are a variety of accrediting agencies that may or may not be accepted by colleges, universities, local school systems and state and federal governments. There are no nationally recognized accrediting agencies for K-12 schools. Many of the federally recognized agencies that offer accreditation on the post secondary level have expanded into K-12 accreditation. You have to decide for yourself if accreditation is necessary and which accrediting agencies you personally accept as valid. Homeschoolers gain admission to college and vocational training without accredited diplomas all the time.

	Babbage Net School, Inc. The Babbage Net School is a virtual High School offering on line, interactive courses in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, SAT, Foreign Language, Advanced Placement, Music, and Art. These courses are taught by certified teachers in a virtual classroom featuring interactive audio, synchronized web browsing and a shared whiteboard.
	Banford Grove School An independent study program that can lead to a diploma.
	Bob Jones: The Academy of Home Education Support services for parents using Bob Jones materials at home. Bob Jones Home Satellite Receive classes on your television by satellite.
	Brigham Young University Independent Study Independent Study offers paper-based and online courses ranging from 7th grade to University level curriculum.
	CalCampus High School Diploma Program Study for your High School Diploma from anywhere in the world through CALCampus online. This is an international program resulting in a U.S. diploma. CALCampus is licensed by the State of Wyoming Department of Education as a post secondary proprietary school.
	Cambridge Academy Correspondence school. 3855 SE Lake Weir Avenue Ocala, FL 34480 (800) 252-3777 Cambridge Academy, founded in 1978, is listed as a private school with the State of Florida Department of Education and regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Cambridge Academy is registered with the College Board and is included on many state and county list of approved schools.
	CCSWeb Academy North Carolina's Virtual High School The CCS Web Academy is a North Carolina state accredited virtual high school offering 65 high school courses during regular session plus a summer school session. Students around the country have the opportunity to participate in distance learning at the high school level.
	Christa McAuliffe Academy CMA uses "Plato on the Internet" and "NovaNET" as core curricula for grades 7-12. They are self-paced online tutorial-type programs. Accredited.

	Dennison Online Internet School A middle school/high school for English literate students worldwide.
	Education Program for Gifted Youth The Education Program for Gifted Youth is an ongoing research project at Stanford University dedicated to developing computer-based multimedia courses in Mathematics, Physics, English, Computer Programming and other subjects, and making these available to students of high ability in elementary and secondary school.
	Florida Virtual School Florida Virtual School provides free online classes and instruction to all public, private, and home school student in Florida.
	Great Books Academy The Great Books Academy is a homeschool and charter school organization dedicated to liberal education based on the classic great books of Western Civilization.

	Illinois Virtual High School The Illinois Virtual High School was planned as an educational service managed by the Illinois State Board of Education to expand student access to challenging high school curricula aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards. Through the IVHS, Illinois school districts, non-publics and parents of home schooled students can provide students with access to a wider range of course offerings, with the opportunity to develop their capacities as independent learners, and with increased time and opportunity to achieve because learning online is neither time nor place dependent.

	Internet Home School Grades 1-12. The Internet Home School holds both national and international accreditation certification.

	North Dakota Division of Independent Study The Division of Independent Study was established in 1935 by the North Dakota legislature to provide distance education courses for students in grades 5-12. It is regionally accredited through the North Central Association of Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. It is a high school diploma program, and it offers 179 one-semester course offerings for grades 5-12., 70 of which are online courses.
	North Star Academy Private Christian online school. United States, Canada and United Kingdom. Northstar Academy is a private Christian on-line school offering grades 7-12. We are not an email tutor nor a correspondence school, but we are a fully staffed school offering full-time or part-time students the opportunity to be a part of our on-line community of learners.
